Biscayne Bay Fishing Guide Report| Tarpon And Bonefish

After tropical storm Isaac terrorized south Florida for a few days, I had a couple of days on the water post Isaac. As I expected it, the fishing was stellar!

We fished in Flamingo (Everglades National Park) one day, and it was good to see the there really wasn’t too much damage. Only a few tree limbs and lots of floating grass on top of the water. Other than that, the fishing was pretty good. We caught several juvenile tarpon up to ten pounds, some snook and a dozen or so redfish.
We were using Fly and light spin tacking using soft plastics throw-out the day.

The fishing in Biscayne Bay right now is as good as I’ve seen it in a while. The bone fishing this summer has been outstanding. The permit fishing in my opinion is better in Biscayne Bay right now then in the lower keys.
The small minnow and pilchards are starting to show up, and so are the tarpon from 10 t0 30 lbs.

The fishing is only going to get better, so if you haven’t planned a trip, now is a great time to come down and fish.

Reminder: To all of my tarpon junkie’s. If you want to secure your dates for next springs tarpon migration, due in now because I’m filling up fast.
