Flamingo Everglades Fishing Report

Since the main tarpon season has come and gone, I’ve been doing allot of backcountry fishing in Flamingo Everglade National park for smaller baby tarpon.

Juvenile tarpon are loads of fun on light tackle and fly tackle. We are catching them on top water baits and small sub surface baits such as the mirror lure mirror dean and small paddle tails. As far as flies goes; a gurgler or a small minnow pattern fly has been working the best.

There are still plenty of larger tarpon around in the backcountry, but you really have to put the time in if you want to target the larger fish this time of year. Starting extra early is the key to being successful at catching tarpon in the summer time and this will continue on through out the summer all the way through December.

Now is a great time of year to fish in Florida Bay and the gulf coast of Flamingo Everglades National park, so don’t miss out on the hot tarpon bite that is going on right now.

Give me a call to check availability.
